I’ve noticed an annoying trend on Facebook lately… people “tagging” others in videos and/or photos when they’re not actually IN those videos/photos.
Seems strange, I know… but in the social media world, that’s big-time SPAMMING and it’s not a good idea.
WHY are they doing it?
One of the primary reasons people enter this occupation is because they wish to earn some life-threatening cash.
With dreams of stardom and hopes of owning the Mercedes and the million-dollar home, they set off in hunt for getting highly paid gigs only to get knocked down by rejection after rejection. After doing some investigation, they discover that virtually all of their starting events will be free speaking gigs.
What?!?
Hey! Stop thinking that way! Shame on you! :o)
I’m talking about a LIST. Santa has a big LIST… how big is yours?
Or, better yet, do you have a list? If you’re a speaker, you need one. Even if you’re an aspiring speaker — just getting into the business — now is the perfect time to begin. And, every time you speak, take that opportunity to build your list even more. Before you know it, you’ll have 10,000 or more subscribers!
By now, I’m sure you’re aware that a strong brand can really boost your speaking business. Much as we wish, strong brands don’t “just happen” and they’re not always easy to build. It takes a plan and a firm commitment to do the work involved in making it happen.
